Heart Tree Wedding Invitation
Available on Etsy
This is the latest of my invitation designs - inspired by a reading from Captain Corelli's Mandolin that I heard at a wedding:
This is the latest of my invitation designs - inspired by a reading from Captain Corelli's Mandolin that I heard at a wedding:
"Those that truly love, have roots that grow towards each other underground,
and when all the pretty blossom have fallen from their branches,
they find that they are one tree and not two." - Louis de BernieresRomantic, eh?

Honeymoon in Kalkan, Turkey, June 2011
We've been home for about two weeks now after our amazing honeymoon in Turkey, but I still feel sad about waking up to invariably grey skies instead of blue!
The above picture shows us getting muddy in the name of beauty - getting all slimy in this mud is supposed to be great for your skin...I wasn't convinced!
One of the great things about Kalkan (or bad things, depending on your point of view) was that there were lots of stray dogs running about, most of which loved to get a nice pat on the head. It was like Lady and The Tramp! Above is a dog called Mango. He was pretty cute, I would have liked to take him home.
I saw this - the ultimate dog house - while we were on a boat trip to an island off the coast of Turkey. Lucky dog who lives here eh?
This is the view from one of the roof-top restaurants we ate at. The food was just as good as the view.
So in conclusion: Two weeks wasn't enough of Kalkan, and I can hardly wait to go back! Here's one more picture of Mango the dog, because he's so sweet:

Desert Island Wedding Invitation - The night version!
http://www.etsy.com/listing/76868320/starry-night-desert-island-printable
This latest invitation design is pretty much the same as the last...but at night! I almost prefer the night time in warmer climates to the days: there is no chance of sunburn! Those of us in the UK don't get many balmy nights, so it's always a pleasurable surprise to wander outside at 10pm on a foreign holiday, and find it's too warm for a cardi. Speaking of which, my next blog post will be concerning our recent honeymoon in Kalkan, Turkey, where the weather is amazing as standard!

Desert Island Wedding Invitation
http://www.etsy.com/listing/76802131/desert-island-printable-wedding
Seasonally inspired printable wedding invitation now available in my Etsy shop. We had one (well half of one) day of warmth and sunshine here on the Isle of Wight, so of course I started fantasizing about white sand beaches!

My Wedding
So the wedding day finally arrived, and as you can see from the photo above, the weather surpassed all expectations given the location! A fabulous day was had, and everything came together like a dream.
In the end, I decided to just go ahead and make the bouquets myself - all the flowers were bought from an obliging supermarket, and the ribbons were provided by my mum from her vast stock (available at www.artsanddesigns.com!)
This ludicrously gorgeous cake was made by Ashley Spence at www.thecheerfulcakecompany.co.uk and was just as delicious to taste as it looked! The top layer was chocolate torte (mmmm), and the bottom two layers were vanilla sponge.
Finally, we danced the night away with a traditional Scottish Ceilidh!

Where have I been?
Well, nowhere. I've been doing lots of mini projects and things, and have completely forgotten to post stuff here. Below is one of my recent knitting projects: a little sweater for a wine bottle!
I thought it was pretty cute, and also practical, if you like your red wine to stay room-temperature that is. This will be a Christmas present, but I'm thinking about doing one for myself as well!
In addition to this, I've been working on the table numbers for the wedding:
They are just 3D papier-mache numbers from hobby craft, painted and with stuff stuck on them. I like the moss one the best, and it was a really relaxing activity to stick all those little foam pearls on the 1.
The thing I've spent the most time on recently though, has been setting up a little micro-business on Etsy. I enjoyed doing my own wedding invitations so much (although they still aren't completely finished) that I decided to design some more, in a downloadable format, and offer them up in an Etsy shop! I also thought it would be fun to make little notecards too:
